Why not explore beyond Irvine by hopping onto the bus and discovering nearby destinations such as Troon, Ayr, and Largs?
Make More of a Visit to Irvine
There’s lots to see and do in this quaint coastal town – the choice of activities and excursions is only limited by the size of your group, the time you have available and your collective interests!
The Scottish Maritime Museum is based at the town’s historic Harbourside and uses interactive displays, historic vessels and industrial machinery to tell the story of Scotland’s shipbuilding heritage. Ideal for school groups, families and anyone else with an interest in the region’s industrial past, the museum is also located near to Irvine railway station.
There are also a number of activities and attractions based outdoors – Irvine Beach Park offers a long sandy beach and a network of walking and cycling paths with superb views out across the Firth of Clyde. For a more rural experience, venture to Eglinton Country Park – with a wide choice of walking routes, pick a distance and level that best suits your group! As well as open parkland and tranquil woodlands, you can also explore the remains of Eglinton Castle.
Other points of interest include the Harbour Arts Centre, which hosts a programme of live entertainment and exhibitions, and there are plenty of local golf courses to choose from if you’re planning a golf-break – local favourites include Irvine Golf Club as well as courses based in nearby Dundonald and Gailes.
Travelling together makes it easy
Travelling as a group can make it easier to get to all of your chosen destinations – whether you have a packed itinerary with lots of planned stops en route, or you’re just making a beeline for the airport, a business meeting or a wedding venue, travelling together means no-one gets left behind!
The amount of space you’ll need for bags and other equipment will of course influence the size of vehicle you’ll need, so once you’ve finalised your plans for your stay in Irvine, browse our vehicles and book the right-sized people-carrier for your group.
Getting Your Group Together
As Irvine is made up of a number of different residential areas, you may wish to consider where is the most convenient place for everyone to meet – discuss whether collections from addresses in central Irvine as well as areas including Bourtreehill, Girdle Toll, Springside, Broomlands and Dreghorn are feasible, and when requesting a quote supply us with as many postcodes as possible to help us work out the best route.
You can also use the station in Irvine, which is on New Street (KA12 8NU), as a convenient meeting point – it’s on the main line linking Glasgow with a number of other Ayrshire coastal towns. There is a designated minibus pick-up/drop-off point, but do confirm the exact arrangements in advance.
| Pickup point | Suitable journeys | Planning notes |
|---|---|---|
| Irvine Railway Station | Rail arrivals, coastal excursions and onward group travel | Confirm your arrival time and the agreed meeting point before travelling. |
| Irvine Town Centre | Shopping trips, social outings and local events | Provide the pickup postcode and agree on a convenient collection location. |

| Springside | Group outings, celebrations and golf trips | Confirm passenger numbers and any additional stops in advance. |
| Broomlands | Airport transfers and private day trips | Consider whether everyone can meet at one collection point. |
| Dreghorn | Residential pickups and trips to nearby coastal towns | Supply the postcode to help plan the collection route. |
| Irvine Harbourside | Visits to the Scottish Maritime Museum and waterfront attractions | Choose a clear meeting point before your group's visit. |
Airport Runs and Trips Beyond Ayrshire
A private transfer can also be a great option for family holidays, groups of colleagues or friends – Glasgow Airport may be the obvious choice for many travellers based in Irvine, but it might make more sense for your group to travel to Edinburgh Airport – it depends on your circumstances!
When planning your transfer, remember to pass on details of your flight, who is travelling, how many pieces of hold/bespoke luggage you’ll have and your preferred time – this will help us work out how early you should be collected and confirm the best vehicle for your requirements.
We can help you with other private group transport requirements too – day trips to explore the Ayrshire coast, getting to a golf course or wedding venue, or even planning a longer road-trip to explore further afield in Scotland. If you have multiple destinations in mind, do let us know so we can quote for the whole trip rather than individual journeys!

Choosing Transport That Fits
Minibus Hire Glasgow provide 8-18 seater minibuses for hire, with coach hire also available for larger groups (subject to availability). Our smaller vehicles might be ideal for family trips or business travel, whereas our larger vehicles are great for taking wedding guests or friends to the golf course! Bear in mind that the number of seats available in a vehicle is not necessarily an indication of how much hold/bespoke luggage or golf bags it can accommodate!
Our vehicles can cater for passengers who require additional access/assistance to board the vehicle – including wheelchair accessibility – so please let us know your requirements in advance. We also recommend enquiring about specific features (such as air-conditioning, in-vehicle charging points, extra luggage space, etc) to make sure the vehicle you hire will suit your needs.
Weddings, Celebrations and Group Days Out
Whether you’re looking for a minibus to take wedding guests between their hotel and the ceremony/reception, want to treat your friends to a night out or birthday celebration, or need reliable transport for a group day out – Minibus Hire Glasgow can help! We regularly drive groups of friends/family to special occasions and events, and regularly take golfing parties from hotels to courses, as well as working with local community groups and businesses to help with group transport requirements. If you’re travelling to an event with a set start time, be sure to factor in some extra time for journey delays/traffic, and plan where everyone should meet up for the return journey.
